As the largest of four sites at the College, it was clear that Zwolle would be first to outgrow its PBX. First thoughts were to simply install a larger exchange.“However”, explains Clemens Broekroelofs, head of ICT, “our problem was that the telephone cabling was a mess. What was there did work, but to expand would mean re-cabling which is a very costly undertaking. One option was a new analogue or digital PBX. The college examined the pros and cons and chose the perfect balance: the existing telephone network was integrated into a Voice over IP solution from Mitel Networks”.
