About ActionAid:
ActionAid has been helping over 13 million of the world's poorest and most disadvantaged people for over thirty five years, since being founded in 1972. Operating in 42 countries worldwide, working with over 2000 partner organisations, ranging from small community groups to alliances and international networks, ActionAid International is a global charity fighting for a world without poverty.
Business type: Charity, not-for-profit
Location: Global head office in London, UK
The Challenge:
ActionAid needed not only to improve collaboration between offices by unifying its disparate communications systems and existing products, but also make a significant reduction in high expenditure across global network. The huge diversity in established infrastructure in the countries is a big issue for ActionAid when deploying technology. Additionally, as a not-for-profit organisation, ActionAid is compelled to ensure the maximum amount possible is driven to the charitys cause, without technology and infrastructure taking funds away from the fundamental aim of the organisation. Ensuring connectivity without causing processional delays or miscommunication, whilst driving down costs was critical.

"In the six months since the deployment, at least £50,000 has already been returned on the investment, a highly significant sum which is now able to be ploughed back into the essential work ActionAid does in helping poverty worldwide. A large amount of the saving has been from major savings on conference calls."
